This crochet tank top pattern is great for using up your yarn stash.
My pattern is simple and can be made in a variety of colours.
I’ve used basic stitches for this tank top, so it is a great project for beginners.
I’ve written the pattern for sizes XS/S, M, L, XL, 2/3XL, 4/5XL.

I’ve designed two lengths. You can choose waist length or if you prefer your tops longer (like me!) you can add a lacy hem.
The pattern is written in US Crochet Terms and UK Crochet Terms.
Design Inspiration
I wear a cotton tank top when I exercise and enjoy the feeling of being covered up but with the freedom to move around.
I wondered if I could design a crochet tank top for every day wear.
It’s turned out better than I expected and I’ll be making a few more to wear out!
How the crochet tank top pattern is worked
The tank top is made in two pieces and crocheted from the bottom up with minimal shaping for the armholes and neck.
The stitch pattern is a three-row repeat. Two rows are worked in V-Stitch and one in 3 x treble crochet (US double crochet) cluster in the chain space of the V-Stitch row.
If you’re a beginner and want to practise decreasing, this is the ideal project.

Yarn
King Cole Caribbean Calypso DK (97% Premium Acrylic and 3% Polyamide) is a light and summery yarn that has a crimped effect. I’ve enjoyed how smooth the yarn glides on my hook. It has a lovely drape! I’ve used the same yarn in a different colourway for a poncho.
