My free crochet boho shawl pattern uses the Daisy in a Square granny square for the central motif with a crochet open stitch mesh pattern either side for the wrap around.
Perfect for the festival scene, this shawl will also brighten up a plain outfit.

How the pattern is worked
The granny square is worked using double crochet (US single crochet), treble crochet (US double crochet), chain and slip stitch.
The crochet open stitch mesh pattern is made from treble crochet (US double crochet), ch1, skip next stitch.
The crochet pattern starts with crocheting the daisy granny square and then re-joining the yarn to a corner to continue working the mesh stitch.

Design Inspiration
The design is inspired by wanting to re-create the flower on my outdoor cushion!
I thought it would look fabulous worked into a shawl using the Hayfield Spirit yarn I already had in my stash.
There is minimal sewing for this crochet project. Yay!
Yarn
Hayfield Spirit DK is a colourful self-striping yarn that is 80% acrylic and 20% wool. It’s a high quality and hard-wearing yarn making it perfect for shawls.
Easy to keep clean, just put it in the washing machine at 40/wool cycle and leave to dry flat.
You can substitute any self-striping DK yarn for this crochet shawl pattern.

Pattern Notes
- This easy crochet shawl pattern is made up of 3 panels: 1 x daisy granny square and 2 x mesh stitch panels which are worked from joining the yarn to either side corner spaces of the granny square
- The daisy granny square is worked in rounds
- The mesh stitch is worked in rows
- Ch2 for the crochet open stitch mesh stitch does not count as a stitch
- Read the daisy granny square pattern carefully. You will be able to see the flower taking shape which will reassure you that it’s working up as it should.
- Use the photos to guide you as you complete the crochet motif
- Tension/gauge is not critical for this project
- Don’t worry if round 6 of the daisy granny square starts to curl. Row 7 brings it back into shape
- Blocking your work will open up the stitches and maintain the shape
