1. Strawberry Sundae Table Runner

This easy pattern combines 3 different crochet stitches to create a lightly textured modern table runner.

You’ll need 3 different colours of worsted /Aran weight cotton or cotton blend used with a 5mm hook.

If you haven’t worked with a V-stitch, double crochet spike or a long double crochet, don’t worry!  Just follow along with the accompanying video tutorial to learn.  You’ll be able to take those new skills forward with other projects 🙂

2. Boho Floral Granny Square Table Runner

Combining granny squares with a modern layout to give a boho vibe, this runner allows for colour customization and is ideal for using up leftover yarn.

Rated at an intermediate skill level because although the squares mostly use simple stitches, stitches and stitch placements are at an intermediate level.

You’ll need worsted-weight cotton yarn used with a 5.5mm hook.

Tips are included for joining your squares without ruffling as well as recommendations for customizing the size of your runner to suit your table.

Rated as intermediate, if you’re unfamiliar with any of the techniques, the PDF walks you through step-by-step.

You’ll need approximately 255 grams / 475 yards of worsted/Aran weight # yarn (the designer recommends Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton) and use a 4.5mm hook.

The size of this crochet table runner pattern is easy to customize to fit your table.

4.  Colourwork Beginners Crochet Table Runner Pattern

Wondering what to do with that leftover yarn in your stash?

This pattern uses Aran weight #4 Acrylic in 3 colours with the main colour needing approximately 120 yards and 2 contrasting colours of 40 yards each.  You might have this amount in your leftover yarn.

Designed with beginners in mind, this free pattern focuses on basic stitches and straightforward construction, making it an excellent choice if you’re new to crochet.

5. Happy Gatherings Crochet Table Runner

Double crochet and crossed double crochet stitches are worked to achieve the design.  A very clear diagram is included in the free pattern for how to work the crossed doubles.

You’ll need approximately 340 yards of Dishie Cotton yarn used with a 4mm hook.

The one-row repeat makes it easy to alter the length to fit your table – just continue the repeat until you reach the size you want.  Easy!

6. Pathways Table Runner

This table runner is worked in alternating sections of single crochet and crossed double crochet stitches, creating a subtle texture that adds interest without overwhelming the design. 

The crossed double crochet is worked differently to the pattern above showing just how flexible crochet is!

The designer has used Lion Brand Re-Tweed (a worsted weight combining wool, polyester and acrylic) although you can use any #5 weight yarn with a tighter twist.

If you’re looking for a textured runner that you can place things on and they won’t tip over, this is the pattern for you.

7. Floral Delight Table Runner

I thought you’d like this runner that’s inspired by floral motifs.

The flower centrepiece is a brilliant touch.  Place your vase of flowers, globe of succulents, or potted plant in the centre or leave it as is.  Both will look fabulous.

Stitches worked include the pineapple stitch, half double crochet V stitch and front post double crochet.

Size 12 x 24″ is available free on blog.  The premium PDF available on Etsy or Ravelry, also includes 12 x 36″ and 12 x 48″ sizes with picture tutorial of the special stitch used.

The free pattern includes detailed instructions for creating flower appliqués that are used on the runner.

Embracing a bohemian vibe, this pattern uses the corner-to-corner (C2C) technique with V-stitches and puff stitches to create the grains and wheat ears.  A lovely textured design you’ll be proud to use in your home!

The designer recommends using Sport (#2) or Fingering (#1) weight yarn (there are a lot of puff stitches and you don’t want your runner to be too thick!).  You’ll need 765yds worked with a 4mm hook.

With this technique, it’s easy to decide the width and length of your crochet table runner as you go.

9. Gatherings Table Runner

This advanced beginner runner is worked lengthways meaning you’ll have a long starting chain for the length and your rows will be the width.  No need to worry though, the two-row repeats and colour changes will keep you engaged with the project.

You’ll need DK weight #3 in 3 colours (recommended is CotLin – a blend of cotton and linen) and a 4.5mm hook.

The pattern includes instructions for multiple sizes to fit various tables.

10.  Easy Crochet Table Runner

You’ll need approx. 900 yds any size 4 (medium) yarn to complete this project.  The designer has used Lion Brand Heartland.

You can make this runner any size you like simply by adding the motifs as you go.  Perfect for using up your leftover yarn!  Use any weight yarn or cotton and an appropriate sized hook for this project.

Another plus I think is that you can choose to follow how the pattern joins the motifs or you might decide to join to make a rectangle or a square.  Lots of options 🙂

If you haven’t worked the Join As You Go (JAYG) technique before don’t panic, you can slip stitch or single crochet them together along the sides instead.

Rated as intermediate, you’ll work these motifs and join them using the Join As You Go method.  If you haven’t worked this technique before I’d recommend you have a practise before starting this project.

Worked in cotton thread #3 you’ll need a 3.5mm hook.
