I’m so excited to have found yarn advent calendars are a thing!
Last year I was treated to the Macmillan Beauty Advent which was great but I wanted something a little different going forward and stumbled across yarn advent calendars.
A yarn advent calendar usually has lots of goodies. In this collection, you’ll find luxurious hand dyed yarn (eco friendly).
These are often fibres we wouldn’t usually get to work with so a real treat for the crafter! You might find stitch markers and often a treat or two as well.
Out of necessity (because obviously opening the advent calendar is a surprise) images from the independent sellers are ‘holding’ images and not of the products.
I would recommend you read through the reviews to check whether a seller is what you are looking for.
Wondering what you’ll make with the yarn? Some advents will have mini skeins that match and include a pattern for a finished project. Others have colour schemes that match but leave it to you for how you’ll use the yarn.

If you’re addicted to yarn (like me!) or know someone who loves fibres and colours, I think a yarn advent calendar would be perfect!

Mystery Yarn Advent Calendar
What’s in the advent calendar:
SW Merino/ Nylon DK or fingering weight yarn in 20g (45/85m), 10g (22/42m) or 5g (11/21m) mini skeins and/or 100g (225/425m) full skeins.
The colours will be floating from one to another and and will include some solid colourways as well as variegated and a small project bag will be included as a special one of a kind gift.
Each skein will be presented in a small paper bag ( excluding full skeins, which will be wrapped in tissue paper) and some of the bags will include some unlisted surprises too.
Useful information: This yarn advent calendar is delivered between 30th of October 15th of November.
Self Striping Advent Sock Yarn
If you’re a knitter, this is the perfect advent for you.
Cast on your socks at the start of December, knit a couple of stripes a day and you’ll have a pair of gorgeous, cosy socks to keep your toes toasty over the Festive Season.
What’s in the advent calendar:
24 Stripe, Self Striping Advent Skein dyed on a Merino Joy Yarn Base, 75% Superwash Merino with 25% Bio Nylon.
The 24 Stripe Advent Skein is be approximately 120g, which will be split into two even half skeins.
Each of these half skeins will start and stop at approximately the same spot to allow for easy matching of your socks and therefore less yarn waste.
Each half skein will have 2 full repeats of 24 stripes.
Stripes are approx 6 rows (although this may depend on your needle size, sock size and gauge).
Choose between 20g or 40g mini skeins either in natural, sparkle, mystery colour or mystery colour sparkle.
Useful information: This sock yarn advent calendar ships on 1st November. Postage is free.
24 Mini Skeins Yarn Advent
This countdown yarn advent calendar is designed to be opened every day for 24 days.
On each of these days you will receive a 20g or 10g mini skein (your choice), which is a total of 480g or 240g of yarn.
You also have the option to add a 100g skein of yarn to open on day 25.

Skeins are semi-solids, variegated and speckled.
