Do No Harm…

Bullied, overlooked and under-appreciated, Lissa McColl learns at an early age to do very bad things.

As a nurse, she is respected and valued for the first time in her life. But Lissa hates her job and the selfish, rude and inconsiderate people she has to deal with.

But being underestimated in this job had its advantages. Lissa can get close to people, find out their secrets… sometimes with deadly results…

The Nurse Review

From the beginning of this story we are introduced to Lissa, the main character and narrator. Starting when she was a child, she describes her unconventional upbringing and strange family life, the bullying she is subjected to and the first time she commits an act of evil. The incident she describes is shocking and unexpected, but this sets a tone for the rest of Lissa’s life.

Eventually she gets her dream job and becomes a nurse. This is a chance to live a straightforward life for once as she’s always struggled when dealing with others. Her patience with people wears thin and the temptation to do bad things again takes over as the memory of the incident in her school days is always at the forefront of her mind, never allowing her to just move on. Will she continue on a destructive path?

The Nurse is absolutely fantastic, in no small part because of the narrator who hooks you in from the very beginning with explosive revelations and a captivating voice.

The chapters are short, the pace is quick all the way through and although Lissa is strange, I rather liked her! This was quite confusing as she does commit some questionable acts!

This book gripped me and towards the end the twist was explosive and very entertaining! I loved it!
