She’s in your home…

Leigh Simons can’t say for sure what made her do it. A moment of madness, perhaps, but when the young, loud and gorgeous waitress at her favorite coffee shop reveals she is homeless, Leigh offers her the empty room in her house.

In your head…

Gina is the perfect lodger; Leigh, lonely and frustrated with her life, becomes infatuated with the woman – her boldness, her zeal. If only Leigh could be more like Gina…

And missing without trace.

So when Leigh returns from a work trip she’s shocked to find Gina missing. Where could the young woman have gone…and why?

Leigh fears that something terrible has happened – why else would Gina leave her?

But as she sets out to find her missing lodger, what Leigh discovers changes everything she knows about Gina….and her own life, too.

Book Review

Leigh lives happily alone, working as a trader and visiting the same coffee shop where she sees the same barista, Gina, who appeals to her because of her vivacious, infectious and attractive personality, as well as her beautiful good looks and auburn hair. When one day she tells Leigh that she is homeless, on a whim Leigh offers her a room in her house. What could possibly go wrong?

When Leigh goes away with work for a week, she comes back to find Gina is missing. Soon her thoughts are consumed by her and the strange behaviour of her boyfriend Matt (with whom she has a long distance relationship) which began after Gina moved in. From this point on she is determined to find Gina and settle the mystery of what happened to her while she was away.

The Lodger is absolutely brilliant. Thought-provoking, addictive and fast-paced, it kept me entertained all the way through.

I could see why Leigh was captivated by Gina, she was certainly an appealing character and I loved trying to guess what on earth the connection was between Leigh, Matt and Gina.

The story builds up pace effectively and by the time I was three quarters of the way through, I couldn’t put it down.

The ending is satisfying and I didn’t guess it luckily!

A superb thriller.
