Think Mosaic Crochet Is Hard? These Blanket Patterns Prove Otherwise

There’s something magical about mosaic crochet. Simple stitches and clever colour changes come together to create patterns that look far more complicated than they are.

It’s the kind of crochet that draws you in! One row turns into another, and before you know it, the blanket pattern is revealing itself beneath your hook. Perfect for evenings on the sofa, weekends away, or making a gift that’s truly special.

In this roundup of mosaic crochet blanket patterns, I’ve included projects from beginner-friendly to more detailed designs.  Some use the inset technique, others overlay – and if you’re new to this technique or want to learn how to read a chart, you’ll find helpful tips in my beginner-friendly mosaic article.

Traditionally, when the seasons change or there’s a house move in our family, a new blanket is designed – and this one was made for my eldest son when he moved apartments.  Do you have traditions too?

My design uses the inset mosaic crochet technique to create a bold X and O pattern.

Although I’ve rated the skill level as intermediate due to the colour changes, the photos and clear written instructions make it accessible if you’re confident with the basics.

I’ve used Aran weight yarn which gives the blanket a snuggly weight.

My finished mosaic blanket crochet pattern measures approximately 47” x 56”, the perfect size for snuggling under.

Want to print or save it? You’ll find a free PDF via the Print Friendly button on the blog post.
