Book Review

Allison has always been a loner. She’s never had a proper relationship and hasn’t even been that bothered about it however, when she meets charming and charismatic Peter, she feels that it’s her ticket to the life she’s always wanted and she deserves.

She’s hiding a terrible secret though, one she has to live with every day.

When Peter passes away she is thrilled at the prospect of inheriting his millions and gorgeous London home. Although it becomes clear that Peter was also hiding a bombshell of his own.

Add to the mix her friendship with Portia and her lecherous husband Stuart along with clingy and weird Jo who befriends her over social media and Allison has a lot on her plate.

Will her lifelong secret be found out and is she the ‘monster’ that she and everyone else believes she is?

The Widow was absolutely fantastic and a deeply entertaining and enjoyable read.

I was totally hooked and loved it!

Despite Allison’s past and her slightly psychopathic tendencies I found myself rooting for her (in particular when something happens against her will).

I sensed also that there was something incredibly odd about Jo but knew that it was somehow connected with Allison’s past. The real reason for her behaviours came as a real surprise to me and the twists the book took were so clever!

I couldn’t read this book quickly enough and give it a definite five stars!
