She loves him…

Lizzie Green once loved Tom Murphy with a passion that bordered on obsession. All she wanted was his love to be returned. Then one night something terrible happened and Tom left Lizzie broken hearted. She swore she would never let him hurt her again….

She loves him not.

Now, ten years later, Tom turns up on Lizzie’s doorstep still as charming as ever. Lizzie knows he still has the power to break her heart and destroy her life again. But Lizzie can’t say no to him….

Can she?

Book Review

Lizzie has always been in love with her childhood friend Tom, something which she has never been able to change and which has ultimately cost her dearly. She hasn’t seen him for ten years. Since then Lizzie has reinvented herself. Living alone in Bournemouth she’s borderline agoraphobic and feels safe and secure in her home, something she cannot feel anywhere else.

When Tom mysteriously reappears on Lizzie’s doorstep claiming that he misses her and that he would like to make a go of their relationship, she feels the familiar pull of before. Lizzie cannot help herself. Will Lizzie realise what is going on as the past threatens to catch up with her and ruin her for good?

The Other Girlfriend is an absolutely brilliant book which drew me in from the very beginning.

Set in my home town it was lovely to be able to imagine the locations in the book.

Tom is an intensely unlikeable character and I was eager for Lizzie to wake up to his true character.

There are flashbacks to the past which really help to set the scene for the present day and we can see how Lizzie has ended up the way she has – fearful and alone.

This book has everything I love in a story – stunning setting, great characters and a thrilling storyline.

A five star read.
