Four sisters, four secrets. Who has the deadliest of them all?
Something happened to me when I was nine.
My childhood memories before that fateful day are gone. Extinguished.
The aftermath has become a living nightmare with a guilt that runs so deep that I’m not sure I can ever tell anyone. I fear I’ve left it too late…
The burden of my secret and the hurt and pain that silence cost each and every member of my family is too overwhelming.
But you can’t avoid fate and now I have the opportunity to right the wrongs inflicted on us.
There was no justice. Not then. Not now. But I can change that.
The big question is, how far am I willing to go?
Book Review
Trigger warning: sexual abuse
This is the story of four close sisters whose lives are forever tainted.
The sisters are Alexis, Bobbi, Sarah and Tess and each have their own roles within the family. Bobbi is the ‘sensible’ one who takes on the role of mother figure to the others despite not being the oldest.
When news surfaces that an offender has been set free as there is insufficient evidence at his trial, he is able to carry on with his actions.
When the sisters find out about it they call an emergency summit to discuss it and the impact he has had on their lives. One of the sisters goes a step further, however, and continues along a destructive and dangerous path in the name of justice.
I loved this story and was eager for one character to get what he deserved.
We know that one of the sisters is living a secret life but we don’t know who. I was guessing all the way through and loved the journey the story took me on.
The ending was brilliant and built up really well.
The chapters involving the sister in question are told from her point of view and I couldn’t help feeling sorry for her and at times found her actions justifiable and reasons for those valid.
My Sister’s Secret is addictive and entertaining and I was hooked all the way through.
