Five Days Summary

When Jesse Lightning meets Minnie Byrne, he is having a bad day. Reeling from the effects of a very bruised heart, the last thing Jesse wants is a new friend. But Minnie is hard to say no to, and reluctantly Jesse realises that her impetuous playfulness might do him good.

So when Minnie suggests they go on fortnightly platonic dates with no strings, no promises, no expectations beyond good company, Jesse agrees before he has a chance to think too deeply about it.

Two friends.

Five days.

No chance of another broken heart.

Until Jesse reveals a secret that proves Minnie’s heart isn’t as safe as she thought. Thank goodness five days isn’t enough time to fall in love…

Five Days Review

Minnie is an actress from a successful acting dynasty, whose love life has ground to a halt. Heartbroken after being cruelly dumped she is looking to get her life back together. One day whilst in a coffee shop, she bumps into Jesse and her world is about to change.

Jesse himself is nursing a broken heart. After discovering his wife Hannah has been cheating on him, he is bereft and after moving out of the family home is left being a part time father to his daughter, Ida. He longs to spend more time with her and hates saying goodbye on ‘handover day’.

After Jesse and Hannah meet, Minnie suggests they meet up, as friends, for a day. In the meantime, they are not allowed to find out each other’s names, nor exchange phone numbers. So they begin their 5 random days of fun.

Five Days is a wonderful story of broken relationships and healing from them.

Minnie is just adorable and I could see how much she was trying to bounce back from her heartbreak. I also felt for Jesse after the cruel treatment he received from Hannah and how desperately he wanted to be a good father to Ida. They are clearly what the other needs and the culmination of their ‘five days’ – a trip to France is wonderful and messy.

I thoroughly enjoyed Five Days, the second I have read from this author and look forward to reading the next one!
