‘I will never forget what the Nazi did to me. Never

1940, Nazi-occupied Paris. A powerful story of love, tragedy and incredible courage, about one woman whose life is ripped apart by war and risks everything to seek justice. Brand new from the bestselling author of The Resistance Girl.

As Nazis patrol the streets of the French capital, Tiena is alone, desperate and on the run. After defending herself against the force of an officer, she must find a new identity in order to survive.

An accidental meeting with members of the Resistance gives her a lifeline, as she is offered the chance to reinvent herself as perfumer Angéline De Cadieux.

However Angéline will never forget what happened to her, and will do everything she can to seek revenge. But vengeance can be a dangerous game, and Angeline can only hide her true identity for so long before her past catches up with her, with some devastating consequences…

Paris, 2003. When the opportunity arises for aspiring journalist Emma Keane to interview world renowned perfumer Madame De Cadieux about her life during World War Two, she is determined to take it. There are secrets from her own family history that she hopes Angéline may be able to help unlock.

But nothing can prepare Emma for Angéline’s story, and one thing is for certain – it will change her own life forever…

An absolutely heartbreaking, unforgettable historical novel of war, sacrifice and survival. Perfect for fans of Suzanne Goldring, Ella Carey and Catherine Hokin.

Book Review

Tiena is on the run in Nazi-occupied Paris in 1940. She’s a Roma gypsy who has experienced the full evil of Nazi sentiment towards her people and culture and with nowhere left to turn after angering a Nazi officer she finds herself now ‘lost in Paris’.

While she is trying to evade being caught she meets members of the Resistance who give her a new identity as a perfumer and her new life begins.

Creating a beautiful perfume for women during the war she is never far from Nazi clutches and the life she leads is fraught with danger as she refuses to deny her Roma heritage.

In 2003, journalist Emma has the opportunity to interview the famous perfumer Angeline Cadieux about her life during WW2 in what could be the interview of her career. She doesn’t expect the sheer depth of her experiences and is left emotional and stunned at the life that Angeline has lived at the hands of a ruthless regime. For Emma, her interview with Angeline is stirring issues in her own life that she needs to confront. The effect the Frenchwoman has on her is profound and unexpected.

The Lost Girl in Paris is utterly stunning. I adore dual timelines and anything set in WW2 so this was a perfect read for me.

I was shocked at the way the Roma community were treated and the author has reminded me of the fact that it wasn’t only the Jews that suffered at the hands of Nazi brutality.

There is a huge contrast between the horrors of war and the luxury and beauty of perfume but the author has combined both subjects beautifully despite this.

I loved and admired courageous Tiena and the incredible life she lived.

The author writes in such an evocative and interesting way and I was hooked from beginning to end.
