A DARK FAMILY SECRET

When Alice’s father dies after a tragic hit and run, his death stirs up unanswered questions about her childhood. Who was her mother, why did her father never speak of the past, and why can’t she remember anything before the age of seven?

AN ISLAND CUT OFF

But when she receives an anonymous letter containing a photograph of a refurbished gothic guesthouse surrounded by water, and an invitation to stay, old memories fight to resurface.

Alice has visited before. She is certain of it.

WHO WILL SURVIVE?

Convinced the clues to her past lie at the hotel, she checks in. But once on the island, a wild storm rages, waves crash violently into the rocks, and the house is cut off by the roaring sea.

Then two guests are found dead. And the hotel owner is missing. Will Alice ever uncover her secret past?

And will anyone leave the island alive?

An utterly gripping thriller that will leave you reading long into the night! Fans of The Guest List and The Sanatorium will love this nail-biting read.

Book Review

Alice’s father has tragically died in a terrible accident and it awakens a desire in her to find out more about her past and where she came from.

She would like to know more about her mother and can’t remember anything about her life before the age of 7.

She’s baffled as to why these pieces in the puzzle of her life aren’t fitting together and when she receives a picture of an old hotel surrounded by water and an invitation to stay there she feels compelled to go.

Once in the hotel and on the island where it’s situate, some of her memories begin to resurface and she has definitely been there before.

After a storm rages and cuts the power in the hotel there are some deaths among the guests.

Cut off, isolated and among strangers there is no one she can trust and doubts appear about whether or not she will make it out of there in one piece.

Why is she there and how does it involve her past?

Wow this is a short sharp burst of a story which I couldn’t tear my eyes away from!

I loved the dual timeline and scary atmosphere of the hotel and as story continues the twists keep coming.

I felt on the edge of my seat such is the suspense in this book and the gothic nature of the hotel and the mystery of Alice’s past meant that I was hooked throughout.

The writing is fabulous and the author brilliantly evokes what it must be like to be stranded and scared somewhere so familiar yet eery.

I found I kept imagining what I would do in Alice’s situation and concluded that I would probably spend most of the time screaming in fear!

The Island House is a superb story with a brilliant twist and frightening setting that sends your pulse racing!
