Same Time Next Week Review

Milly Johnson once again delivers a heartfelt, uplifting, and utterly compelling story in Same Time Next Week. With her unique writing style and insight, she introduces us to a group of women whose lives intertwine at Spring Hill, each navigating personal struggles, challenges, and triumphs.

From the very first page, I was drawn in – Milly’s storytelling has a way of making me reluctant to leave her characters behind. I intended to pace myself, but that plan quickly went out the window as I became completely invested in how Amanda, Sky, Mel, Erin, and Astrid would find their way through life’s twists and turns.

I adored every single character, each one bringing something unique and valuable to the group. Their individual journeys, filled with heartache, growth, and transformation, are what make this book so special.

What I loved most about this story is how it balances the rawness of relationship drama and conflict—the kind that gets me so riled up—with the heartwarming support and resolutions that make me literally cheer (and cry happy tears). Each of these women face real, deeply relatable issues, from caregiving and workplace struggles to heartbreak, guilt, and self-doubt. The way Milly Johnson normalises these experiences is one of her greatest skills, making readers feel seen, understood, and perhaps even motivated to make changes in their own lives.

The novel’s pacing is spot-on, carrying the perfect blend of tension and resolution. And oh, the obstacles! I’m a firm believer in the universe placing stumbling blocks in our way to steer us in the right direction, and in Same Time Next Week, those stumbling blocks feel more like mountains. But with friendship, encouragement, and a strong foundation, even the steepest climbs become manageable. That’s the heart of this story—women lifting each other up, standing together, and proving that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

A beautifully written, emotionally resonant novel that leaves a lasting impression, Same Time Next Week is another triumph for Milly Johnson. If you love stories that celebrate friendship, resilience, and the power of support, this is one you won’t want to miss.

An easy 5 stars from me.
