Fiction Book Reviews

Looking for fiction book reviews?

We’re sharing our thoughts on not only the latest book releases but backlists too.

We are not affiliated with any particular publishing house or author.  We choose the books we read because they call to us in some way.

I’m a ‘mood reader’ and absolutely love it.  My joy in reading has increased tenfold!

I have two guest reviewers, Laura and Elena.  Between us we enjoy different genres.

Fiction Book Review Genres

You’ll find us sharing our thoughts on these different genres:

  • contemporary fiction
  • crime fiction
  • fantasy
  • historical fiction
  • literary fiction
  • memoir
  • psychological thriller
  • romantic fiction
  • saga
  • science fiction
  • thriller

Our fiction book reviews are all set out the same way.  There is an introductory paragraph (which might only be a couple of sentences) followed by the book cover, publisher and blurb.

Where the book is available to purchase follows next.

Once the basics are shared, you’ll read our reviews.  Some of the reviews are short and succinct, some a little longer.

All three of us having our own ways as to what is actually in the fiction book review, however, all are our personal (and therefore subjective) thoughts.

The review is followed by the author’s biography, which includes links to website and social media platforms.

If you’re an author, publisher or blog tour organiser looking for fiction book reviews then please get in touch.  Find out more on my review policy.

We hope you’ll enjoy reading our fiction book reviews.  We enjoy chatting about books so please get in touch.

Book Review : Beattie Cavendish and the White Pearl Club by Mary-Jane Riley

August 21, 2025
Cover of the book Beattie Cavendish and the White Pearl Club by Mary-Jane Riley. The image shows a stylish woman with dark hair, red lipstick, pearl earrings, and large sunglasses, set against an orange London skyline with Big Ben and the Thames at sunset. The design evokes a vintage, mysterious feel.

We’re delighted to be sharing Laura’s thoughts about Beattie Cavendish and the White Pearl Club. A wonderful story with suspense …

Book Review: Let’s Make a Scene by Laura Wood

August 20, 2025
A paperback copy of Let’s Make a Scene by Laura Wood stands upright on a rustic wooden table outdoors. The book’s bright pink and red cover features an illustrated couple dressed for a glamorous night out. Surrounding the book are leafy variegated plants and a potted fern, with sunlight casting soft shadows across the scene.

Let’s Make a Scene by Laura Wood is (for me), the ultimate enemies to lovers with all the feels. Goodreads …

Book Review: The Italian Flame by Rosanna Ley

July 1, 2025
A hand holds a copy of The Italian Flame by Rosanna Ley against a vibrant garden background. The book cover shows a sun-drenched terrace with two chairs and a table overlooking a coastal Italian scene, with flowers and the sea in the distance. Purple and white daisies bloom around the foreground, adding a summery vibe.

The Italian Flame is a beautifully told story of love, loss, and the ways we try to make peace with …

Book Review: The Arts Trail Killer by Emylia Hall

June 23, 2025
Book cover for The Arts Trail Killer by Emylia Hall, part of “A Shell House Detectives Mystery” series. The artwork shows an open window overlooking a seaside village under a full moon, with calm blue water and boats in the harbor. Inside the window frame are art supplies and paintbrushes, with red paint smeared ominously on the right window pane, suggesting a crime scene.

In the fifth instalment of The Shell House Detectives, Emylia Hall once again delivers a richly layered mystery, full of …
