One broken marriage. One broken heart. One chance to meet someone new.
Hannah leaves her unhappy marriage with her daughter Ava and moves to the village of Leadsham to start afresh. She plans to keep a low profile, focusing on Ava and making a new life for them, far away from her violent ex-husband.
What she hadn’t counted on was Andrew Brody. A police officer with a strict moral code, he knows something’s wrong as soon as he meets Hannah, and he wants to help. But Hannah has been let down by the police – and men – before, and pushes him away.
But the more Hannah tries to ignore Brody, the more she’s drawn to him. Caring, kind and patient, he’s nothing like the man she’s running from. Can Hannah finally put her past behind her, and open her heart to someone new?
Book Review
Hannah is in an abusive relationship and deciding that enough is enough she escapes her partner with the help of her friend and along with her baby arrive in a village where she knows no-one and fearing that her abusive partner will find her.
Before long she meets policeman Andrew Brody who shows her kindness and respect. She’s ashamed to tell him anything about her life – her experience with police has been less than positive – and struggles to open up.
Forging a new life and becoming part of this close-knit community is just the thing she needs she realises but can she escape the ghosts of her past and begin to trust people again in particular Brody?
Someone Like You is a wonderfully heart-warming book that I devoured quickly, due to the gorgeous characters and delightful setting.
I felt upset for Hannah having experienced such a terrible relationship yet admired her strength in escaping her situation and having the courage to start over.
The community that she becomes part of is exactly what she needs and cocoon her with warmth.
I found Andrew to be patient and kind and the total opposite of her previous partner thankfully.
A lovely, hopeful read.
