We’re delighted to be sharing Laura’s thoughts for I Made A Mistake by Jane Corry.
I Made a Mistake by Jane Corry is published by Penguin Viking and is available to purchase in digital, paperback and audiobook formats.
In Poppy Page’s mind, there are two types of women in this world: those who are faithful to their husbands, and those who are not. Until now, Poppy has never questioned which she was.
But when handsome, charming Matthew Gordon walks back into her life after almost two decades, that changes. Poppy makes a single mistake – and that mistake will be far more dangerous than she could imagine.
Someone is going to pay for it with their life . . .
I Made A Mistake is an intriguing domestic thriller with captivating characters and shocking twists. A new author for me and a new favourite.
This story follows two women who share the mistakes in their lives and the consequences which entail. Poppy Page was an aspiring actress but ended up setting up a successful extras agency. Married to dentist Stuart with two daughters and living with her mother-in-law Betty. Betty writes to Poppy sharing her early life with her husband, Jock. She explains the difficulties of living with a controlling, jealous man and the eventful details of her relationship with Jane.
Poppy meets an ex at a Christmas work party, Matthew and they continue to meet each other in secret. Betty discovers her past mistakes look to be repeated and decides to help her family.
A murder investigation involving Poppy is included with snippets of her being interviewed at the Central Criminal Court.
I couldn’t stop reading this book, I loved Betty’s chapters as they shared a glimpse of the past and her story is both woeful and shocking.
Beautifully written, highly recommended.
