In March I was honoured to have Amanda Robson in my hot seat and today we’re delighted to be sharing Laura’s thoughts with you about Envy.
She wants your life – and she’ll do anything to get it…
Erica has always wanted to be exactly like her neighbour, Faye: beautiful, thin, and a mother. But Faye’s life isn’t as perfect as it seems – she has a terrible secret, and slowly but surely, it is threatening to destroy her and everything she holds dear.
When Faye’s daughter Tamsin goes missing after school, the police turn to Erica. But is Erica the only one who has been enviously watching Faye? Or is there another threat hiding in the shadows…?
An unsettling, claustrophobic thriller about jealousy, greed and desire from Sunday Times bestseller Amanda Robson.
Envy by Amanda Robson is published by Avon (4th April 2019) and is available to purchase in digital, paperback and audiobook formats.
I couldn’t put Envy down. With short chapters switching between 4 narrators, it was easy to get swept up in all the suspense.
Erica, overweight with an obsession of her neighbour; Faye, a beautiful model with two young girls; Phillip, her husband besotted with his family and carefully watches over them; Jonah, Phillip’s friend who shares with Erica her devotion of Faye.
A psychological thriller with plenty of drama, twists, secrets and of course a unhealthy amount of envy. I found it to be fast-paced and easy to read.
I will look out for more by this author as I found Envy to be an exciting, quick read.
After graduating, Amanda Robson worked in medical research at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and at the Poisons Unit at Guy’s Hospital where she became a co-author of a book on cyanide poisoning. After having her two sons, Amanda stayed at home to bring up her family.
In 2011, Amanda attended the Faber Academy Writing A Novel course and now writes full-time. She lives in London and Wales, with her lawyer husband, puppy and kitten. Her two sons, also lawyers, have more or less, fled the nest. Her debut novel, Obsession, was a #1 ebook bestseller and her second novel, Guilt, was a Sunday Times bestseller.
Envy is published by Avon on 4th April, priced £7.99 paperback, £2.99 digital.
