We’re delighted to be sharing Elena’s thoughts about Parents and Teachers by Sara Madderson.

At two of London’s most exclusive prep schools, there are strict rules against parents fraternising with teachers.

Well, that’s the theory, in any case.

Jenna, a Year 3 teacher at St Cuthbert’s, catches the eye of the school’s highest-profile parent, a world-famous action movie star, with far-reaching consequences.

Meanwhile, over at Chiltern House, Astrid is still licking her wounds after her husband left her. Her daughter’s PE teacher, Callum, may be her best chance of rediscovering her joie de vivre.

Astrid’s friend Natalia, whose life revolves around motherhood these days, finds herself questioning everything she’s taken for granted when her husband becomes embroiled in a #MeToo scandal.

Really, the only ones behaving themselves are the kids …

Parents and Teachers is a brilliant light-hearted romp that I devoured from start to finish.

It tells the story from the perspectives of teachers Jenna and Callum, and parents Astrid and Natalia. They are all linked through their children’s private London schools.

Jenna is a teacher who embarks on a steamy relationship with one of the dads of a child in her class. Callum is a teacher who becomes involved with Astrid, a glamorous beautiful parent and Natalia is trying to build her confidence back up after her marriage breaks down.

The parents all have money and live the highlife, which the teachers are seduced by. But it’s not all straightforward as complications appear in each relationship and their lives are so different. Add to that the fact that relationships between parents and teachers are strictly forbidden and there is secrecy and intrigue all round.

This is such an enjoyable read! It’s the second book I’ve read by this author and it did not disappoint. It’s in equal parts raunchy and hilarious. I liked all the characters (perhaps Callum a little less) and found it utterly escapist reading about their glamorous lives.

It left a smile on my face which got bigger as the story got more outrageous and thought at times that it would really make a great, entertaining tv show.

This author is definitely becoming one of my favourites and look forward to reading more of her books!

Sara Madderson is an author, entrepreneur, wife and mother. She was born in Ireland and moved to the UK with her family when she was ten years old. She lives in London with her husband Chris, their two children, Paddy and Tilly, and their cocker spaniel Charlie.

Before turning to writing, Sara worked in finance for a decade and then ran her own fashion brand, Madderson London, for eight years. She earned her MPhil in Early Modern History from the University of Birmingham.

Metamorphosis is Sara’s first book. Given that she spent most of her childhood writing and designing clothes, she’s now seen both of her childhood career dreams come true! She’s enjoyed the adventure of publishing independently as much as she’s enjoyed the writing process itself. She’s now completely hooked on writing!
