We’re delighted to be sharing Elena’s thoughts about One Family Christmas by Bella Osborne.
Lottie and her family have always celebrated Christmas together at her Nana Rose’s large Manor House. However when her grandmother passes away and it looks like it’ll be the first time they will be apart for Christmas, Lottie in desperation convinces them all to have one last Christmas as a family.
It means a lot to her because Lottie has always felt closer to Nana Rose than her actual mother so for her, having this one last traditional Christmas, is a huge deal. Her two brothers, Zak and Daniel, her sister in law Nicola, Zak’s girlfriend Emily, her mother and Great Uncle Bernard all agree unenthusiastically at Nana Rose’s funeral to her pleas and from then on Lottie feels the pressure to ensure she hosts the best Christmas ever.
There’s a race against time to make all the food (which she has never done before) and accommodate everyone. No one wants to help her with any preparation or clearing up afterwards. To top it all off her ex-boyfriend is back in the village as the new vet and the house she loves is being sold. Can she keep her cool among all the chaos around her?
One Family Christmas was so much fun to read.
It’s a lovely escape from all the Covid doom and gloom, featuring disaster meals, secret pregnancy, porn stars, Duchess the cat and Dave the dog.
It’s funny, full of secrets, mystery, romance and heartbreak.
Everyone can identify with the stressful parts of the festive period as well as the magic of it and that’s why I enjoyed it so much.
The characters and the catalogue of errors that occur in the run up to the big day keep you interested throughout and I thoroughly recommend reading it to get you in the Christmas spirit!
Bella has been jotting down stories as far back as she can remember but decided that 2013 would be the year that she finished a full length novel. Since then she’s written six best selling romantic comedies and she’s been shortlisted three times for the RNA Contemporary Romantic Novel of the Year Award.
Bella’s stories are about friendship, love and coping with what life throws at you. She lives in The Midlands, UK with her husband, daughter and a cat who thinks she’s a dog. When not writing Bella is usually eating custard creams and planning holidays.
