A love forged in fire lives on through the ages . . .

Skye Logan has been struggling to run her remote farm on Scotland’s west coast alone ever since her marriage fell apart. When a handsome stranger turns up looking for work, it seems that her wish for help has been granted.

Rafe Carlisle is searching for peace and somewhere he can forget about the last few years. But echoes of the distant past won’t leave Skye and Rafe alone, and they begin to experience vivid dreams which appear to be linked to the Viking jewellery they each wear.

It seems that the ghosts of the past have secrets . . . and they have something that they want Skye and Rafe to know.

Book Review

In this stunning dual timeline book, we learn of the story of Skye who is living off the land in a remote part of Scotland with only herself for company.

She’s been left alone since her marriage fell apart and her smallholding is becoming more and more difficult for her to manage by herself.

Tired and stressed she meets Rafe who is travelling the area by campervan. She agrees to him coming to stay with her to help restore the property and land, thinking it would be useful for him to take on some of the heavier work.

As they get to know each other the chemistry between them is undeniable and soon the rich history of Viking settlements in the area become entwined with their reality.

Hidden in the Mists also tells the Viking story of Ásta and Óttarr set in the very distant past. Ásta is the daughter of the village leader and Óttarr the only survivor of a brutal attack in his village.

What links the two stories is a possession they have found which holds power.

I absolutely adored both settings and both stories with the Viking scenes being so atmospheric and realistic, with huge attention to detail.

I could just imagine being there in Scotland with the four characters.

The story held my interest all the way through it’s so well written. It’s full of drama and action – I can see this translated onto the screen.

This is a wonderful five star read for me – completely spellbinding.
