The perfect house, the perfect husband and the perfect life… or is she just faking it?

Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster for Ella. Growing up as the ‘less successful’ identical twin to her ‘perfectly successful’ sister, Emma, has left her feeling isolated, inadequate and let’s face it… a little bitter.

When Emma unexpectedly reaches out to Ella in a time of need, Ella suddenly finds herself with the opportunity to fill in for her sister and experience how the other half live.

But as Ella navigates the world of gossiping mothers, rebellious teens and trying to play the model housewife (not to mention avoiding the temptation of attractive men at the school gates…) will she discover that all is not always as it seems on the other side?

Discover the laugh-out-loud new romantic comedy from top 10 bestseller Portia MacIntosh. Perfect for fans of Mhairi McFarlane, Sophie Ranald and Lindsey Kelk.

Book Review

Ella and Emma are identical twins but that’s where their similarities end. Ella is the ‘least successful’ of the two and the book starts with a fire in her flat which leads to her eviction and with her getting fired from her job. By contrast, Emma’s life is perfection with a happy marriage, beautiful home and gorgeous children.

On that same disastrous day, Emma reaches out to her sister to help her through a difficult patch it falls on Ella to fill Emma’s shoes and she gets a glimpse of this perfect life. By faking this new life she realises that life isn’t always greener on the other side! For a start there are the two children (one of which is a moody teenager) and Emma’s husband who is lovely but a little bit clueless! Then she has to navigate the Yummy Mummy Mafia at the school gates which made me laugh out loud in parts. Marco provides a welcome distraction for her (and the other mums) too!

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and it didn’t disappoint!

Faking It is a light-hearted read which is perfect for the current climate and will leave you both laughing and crying as you read! I particularly loved the ending which I didn’t see coming. The author has a fantastic way of drawing you into the characters lives and before you know it you’re totally swept away.

It reminded me that despite differences, your family, whether it’s the one you choose or the one you’re born with, is so important and I loved how Ella was ready to jump into her new role and help her sister.

A wonderful, warm and fuzzy read.
