Good mother or bad … who decides?

Widowed nurse Kate and mum of two Madeleine couldn’t be more different in their approaches to parenting.

Kate knows her husband’s death has made her more protective of her daughter, but she’s not going to apologise for it.

Madeleine feels there’s no such thing as a perfect mother and while her parenting style may be controversial it works for her children and that’s all that matters.

But when Madeleine makes a fateful decision that upends her own family, and has devastating consequences for Kate, suddenly the world is lining up to vilify her and she must defend every parental choice she’s ever made…

Why is she accused of being a terrible mother when all she did was try to keep her children safe?

Available to purchase in digital, paperback, hardcover and audio formats.

Review

An interesting story about the controversial issue of anti-vaccination and the implications that can arise from a parents decision to not vaccinate.

This story is about two mothers with daughters, both unvaccinated for different reasons but it highlights the prejudice and consequences for their choice. Widow Kate gets emotionally manipulated into making a decision which then affects the life of fellow mother, Madeline, a blogger with a desire to share her relaxed parenting style.

Strong themes of motherhood, family and their decisions run through this thought-provoking novel. The realistic characters evoked many feelings, especially as a new mother myself.

I enjoyed keep you safe as I felt strongly for both Kate and Madeline. The ending is a surprise but satisfying as I found a need to protect both characters.
