Book Review | Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan

Sarah Morgan is one of my favourite romance authors.  I LOVED Miracle on 5th Avenue!  This is my favourite story ever from this author … perfect setting, perfectly flawed male lead and I have to confess, Eva is my favourite character from the three friends in the From Manhattan With Love series.

Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. Even if she is spending it alone housesitting a spectacular Fifth Avenue apartment. What she didn’t expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous–and mysterious–owner.

Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife’s death looming, he’s isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings…This Christmas, is Lucas finally ready to trust that happily-ever-afters do exist?

Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan is published by Mira.

Book Review

Although Eva is also a character in the previous two novels you don’t have to read them to get the full force of her nurturing and optimistic personality … but you would be missing out on so much if you don’t!  I loved her attitude to life but also how meeting Lucas balanced her views.  Her passion with cooking (nurturing!) and sharing on her blog is the perfect fit for who she is.  And Sarah Morgan uses this with great effect at Lucas’ apartment (which, by the way, overlooks Central Park … in the snow).  Later on in the story, Eva makes a change that reflects her personality which had me laughing out loud.

Lucas (an author who writes crime) hates Christmas, he’s deliberately isolated himself from the world and blocked off from emotion.  He doesn’t stand a chance against Eva really! with her genuine and caring personality.  Eva, tasked with decorating his apartment for Christmas while he’s supposed to be in Vermont doesn’t have the most positive first meeting with him but the spark is there from the beginning.

The banter between Lucas and Eva is brilliant and as with all Sarah Morgan novels I’ve read so far, the romance feels as if it’s happening to YOU.  So many feels.  There’s intrigue surrounding Lucas which kept me guessing – I didn’t work it out.

I loved the isolation of Lucas’ apartment although key changes happen at the Snowflake Ball and out in the snow at Central Park (emotional and very intense … but not between them!).

I was distraught leading up to the ending.  Even though you know this is a romance novel and there’s highly likely to be a HEA it feels REAL.  I felt all the emotions Eva did.  But oh, what a perfect ending.  So romantic.

Miracle on 5th Avenue really does have it all for the romance reader.  A flawed and hot hero, a heroine who is adorable and believes in the real thing, intrigue, conflict, perfect settings, food to make your mouth water! and of course a romance that is intense.  Highly recommended.
