Book Review | The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding by Carole Matthews

I’m a fan of Carole Matthew’s writing so it will be no surprise to hear that I absolutely loved The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding!

My emotions are always drawn in with Carole’s stories whether that’s a low key chuckle, laugh out loud moment, a tear ready to fall or outright sobbing.  This time though, in The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding, I think Carole has surpassed herself.  I don’t think it’s because I have known our four ladies from the very beginning.  Carole really does pull on the heartstrings on more than one occasion.

The ladies of The Chocolate Lovers’ Club should be gearing up for the wedding of the year but life keeps getting in the way . . .

Lucy is worried about her financial situation and it keeps distracting her. Should she accept an offer of help from an untrustworthy source?

Nadia may have a real chance at finding love but other areas of her life aren’t so rosy. Something needs to change – but what?

Autumn can’t wait to meet someone she hasn’t seen in a very long time. She’s full of hope for the future but then things don’t exactly go to plan . . .

Chantal has been through so much and she’s finally starting to feel settled. The last thing she needs is the kind of bad news that could change her life all over again.

And yet, despite all the ups and downs, the Chocolate Lovers’ ladies know they can get through it all as long as they have each other. They’re not going to let anything get in the way of their happy-ever-afters in . . . The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding.

It’s going to be hard to write down my thoughts because I want to share lots with you (like why I sobbed) but no spoilers!  This might be quite a short review …

It’s three months after The Chocolate Lovers’ Christmas ended and Lucy is working in an environment that she is just not suited to.  I love the way she draws me into the story with her prompts “What would you do?”  She is still having her madcap ideas but I think in this story we see her come into her own – not just in confidence but the sacrifices she makes on more than one level show a maturity and unselfish side of her that I know all readers will love (and will definitely bring tears).

Chantal, Autumn and Nadia.  What can I say?  There are moments in their lives that will make you smile but on the other side of the scale they all endure events that you will feel the hurt alongside them.  I do think Carole has a balance between bittersweet and total awww moments (which I have to admit I cry at as well).

With wedding in the title you would expect a romantic moment and believe me Crush, Jacob, Miles and James give us plenty (even Marcus – yes really!).  Plenty of feels with all the characters.

Family, drama, romance and friendship – The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding has had me totally engrossed.

And I’ve decided I just have to share the love … with a paperback giveaway.  Enter the Rafflecopter below (open Internationally) for your chance to dive into the Chocolate Lovers’ lives.

Don’t worry if you haven’t read any of the previous Chocolate Lovers’ titles because this can be read as a stand-alone.  However, I strongly recommend that you do!
