Since I picked up my hook again at Easter I’ve been excited (addicted!) working with yarn again on crochet projects … some from patterns, some projects freehand, some adapted from patterns.  I’m having so much fun with colour, texture and design.  Recently I realised that I buy the yarn first, mostly drawn to a colour/hue or a colour combination I can see clearly in my imagination that excites me.  The inspiration for the crochet projects comes afterwards.

Crocheting is one of those activities that you’re ‘in the moment’ when you’re working on a project so it’s excellent therapy too!  It’s amazing how fast time goes by when you’re absorbed in doing something (just one more row is, I think, something quite a few hookers say!).

At the moment I’m studying towards a colour therapy diploma but when I have more time, I’m planning on blogging about my crochet projects.  And through sharing photos on Instagram I’ve had a couple of bespoke project requests and offers of purchasing plus comments asking if I’ve thought of selling the items I’ve made.  It’s been an amazing response!  You can take a look at my crochet projects in my Flickr album.

The crochet community is on the whole really supportive.  I’ve found a couple of fabulous groups on Facebook … if you’re looking to start up or for inspiration I can highly recommend Bella Coco Crochet Club and Crochet Addicted.

Looking forward to sharing my crocheting journey with you!

Family comes first! I'm married with two son's in their 20's and have a little more time now to follow my passions. I love my role as an Inclusion Lead in KS2 and I'm passionate about early help. I'm a member of Bournemouth's Early Help Operational Board working alongside others to instigate change and growth. I'm also passionate about my love of reading, being out in nature and creating with crochet. I've been blogging for eight years at Jera's Jamboree.
