How can it be 8 years since I started blogging! I’ve seen quite a lot of changes during that time and most of them are positive.

Jera's Jamboree 8th blog birthday

Social media platforms have changed. Twitter was always my first love and ‘go to’ for promoting my blog posts although I must admit I became disenchanted for a while at some of the algorithm updates messing with my timeline. If you follow me on Twitter you may have noticed that for quite a while now, I only share my recent post once a day. Blog visitors these days come from a variety of sources and for me, Twitter is more of a place to interact than to promote my posts. I think being able to use more characters has allowed a lighter and fun side of tweeters sharing their stories and brands. Certainly tweets have become more human and less scheduled (at least in my timeline).

In the past year, search engines have been my top referrer but over the past couple of months, more visitors to my blog have made their way via Pinterest. My daily views via Pinterest these past few weeks have been crazy!

Visitors come to the blog mostly from the UK although visitors from the US and other countries drop by too.

Over the past year, 183, 925 words have been written – enough words for two novels. 🙂 With a total of 239 posts, that’s an average of 770 words per post. I do have two guest reviewers on board so some of those words are theirs! That’s a lot of words between us …

The only negative for me is that most of the blogging buddies I made when I first started no longer blog. The positive is that we still stay in touch! It is hard when you lose your tribe but I’ve also met some awesome bloggers along the way.

Please note, some links in this post are affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link and make a purchase, the cost stays the same to you but Jera’s Jamboree receives a very small fee which goes towards funding giveaways.

The giveaway is open to UK residents. In the goody box:

A gorgeous purple berry and sleeping fox Book Buddy from Melvis Makes. It’s great for keeping your paperbacks safe from children’s curious sticky fingers. If you read on your commute or when you’re travelling, the Book Buddy is perfect to stop those pages from bending over. I chose a mint lining to complement the colour palette but you can also order one with a raspberry lining. Mel’s book buddies come highly recommended by me.

This fox corner bookmark from Tickle and Thread is so cute! If you bend the corner of your page to mark where you’ve read to (I’m not judging you), no excuses with one of these. 🙂

The winner will also receive a National Book Token e-gift card for the value of £10. You’ll be able to choose your book from one of these destinations.

To help you make notes while you’re reading also in the goody box is a notebook, unicorn sticky notes book and a unicorn pen. The unicorn pen is from Ice London’s Girl Power range. You probably know already how much I love their goodies. 🙂

You may know that I always travel with my current read and a hot drink which is why in the goody box you’ll find a bamboo eco mug along with a cappuccino and hot chocolate sachet. If you’re a tea person I’ve also added Early Grey from English Heritage. If you’re gluten, wheat and milk free I’ve added a Tesco Choc ‘n’ Crispie bar to munch while you’re reading. 🙂

Finally in the goodie box is one of my crochet shawl designs. It’s so easy when you’re engrossed in the story you’re reading to be sat in one place (if you don’t get interrupted …) and feel the chill on your shoulders. A shawl is the perfect way to keep warm and it’s so versatile with different ways to wear one. I’ve colour matched the shawl with the Book Buddy so you’ll be colour coordinated!

Shawls are my latest passion and if you want to be kept up to date for the new listings, please subscribe to my newsletter. We have closed our Etsy shop but you will be able to continue to buy from the blog under the Parkview Creative tab. The graphic design packages have been transferred over and my crochet will be added soon.

Whether you’re a new blog subscriber or have been with me for a while, thank you.

You are very much appreciated!

Good luck!
