Review

The Very White of Love is an historical novel based on true events between 1938 and 1941.

After his mother’s death, S.C Worrall found his mother’s love letters encompassing this time. This novel is based on her correspondence with Martin Preston whom she met in September 1938.

Martin, a university student, bumped into Nancy Whelan, a beautiful redhead. He became infatuated, however their future changed due to his training and fighting in France, a year later.  This story highlights the unfortunate timing of war for many couples, old and young.

I found the story began extremely well, describing their love in the Buckinghamshire countryside and I thoroughly enjoyed their relationship blossoming.

A beautiful tale of young love torn apart by war. The author has researched different elements of war in great detail which makes The Very White of Love a compelling read.
