Oxford, 1960. There’s a murderer on the loose and two unlikely heroes are poised to solve the case.
Meet Probationary WPC Trudy Loveday – smart, enthusiastic and always underestimated.
In the hope of getting her out of the way, Trudy’s senior officer assigns her to help coroner Clement Ryder as he re-opens the case of a young woman’s death. She can’t believe her luck – she is actually going to be working on a real murder case.
Meanwhile, the rest of the police force are busy investigating a series of threats and murders in the local community, and Clement can’t help but feel it’s all linked.
As Trudy and Clement form an unlikely partnership, are they going to be the ones to solve these crimes before the murderer strikes again?
A gripping, twisty crime novel that you won’t be able to put down. Perfect for fans of Agatha Christie and M.C. Beaton.
Available to purchase from today in digital format with the paperback publishing 4th July.
A gripping crime mystery set in the 1960’s.
The story begins with Sir Marcus Deering receiving death threats on his son and while a murder takes place, it’s not as it seems.
A young probationary WPC Trudy Loveday feels disheartened. She is always given menial tasks and not given credit for her hard work. Trudy strives to work on more interesting cases.
While her colleagues work on the murder case she is paired up with coroner Clement Ryder, who decided to re-examine a case on the suspected suicide/murder of Gisela Fleet-Wright.
Due to the era, interviews were relied upon by the police to gather evidence and Ryder uses Loveday to interview suspects, while he works on discovering the truth.
An interesting plot and I thoroughly enjoyed the growing chemistry between young, naive Trudy and medically trained Ryder.
I look forward to reading more in this series.
