Changes ahead

You probably know by now that I’m reducing my days at work from September (this academic year has literally had wings!).  I love my job and I’m passionate about our school community and I feel blessed that this is something I can do.

When there’s changes in your life it often prompts reflection on your life holistically doesn’t it … the impact for me is that I’m going to make changes to blogging.

Blogging is another thing I’m passionate about but it has quite an impact on my life time-wise (all bloggers will tell you the same!).  Over the past 10 months there’s been 243+ posts on Jera’s Jamboree (and I haven’t posted this year during school holidays – blogging break coming up).

changes

I’ve been quite strict with time management this past year, requesting Q&As/guest posts/excerpts etc to be available to me at least 2 weeks before they’re due to be scheduled.  It’s stressful trying to get everything ready at the last minute …   I’ve also prepped and scheduled as many posts as I could during the school holidays for the half term term ahead.  Whilst this has taken the pressure off during weekends, it has meant that the time I should be enjoying leisure time (resting and relaxing) is sometimes spent in a whirlwind of pushing myself so that I can get those posts ready in advance.  I don’t think anyone works as hard as those of us in the blogging community – and for no pay.  Blogging takes a hold of you and doesn’t let go 🙂

I’ll still be reading and blogging my reviews, although you won’t see ratings on the blog.  I’ve always detested the rating system on Amazon and Goodreads.  I know it helps to inform possible customers and there has to be some kind of system in place, something that catches the eye in our fast moving society.  But.  If you’re reading my review here it’s very clear whether I loved something or it wasn’t for me (I will still conform and be rating on those sites though!).  I’m still open for hosting Q&As/guest posts.  I’ll still be sharing tips for mindful living (both here and at Positive Mind Positive Lifestyle) and anything I think will make your life easier. There will still be giveaways.  I don’t know how it will evolve moving forward. You won’t see a post every day.  Over the summer holidays I haven’t accepted or planned very much so posts will be sporadic.

I feel as if I’ve been using my ‘left brain’ way too much this year with very little time for any spontaneity.  You may have noticed on my Instagram a few crochet projects lately.  I’m loving finding my lost creativity, the colour and the immense satisfaction from this mindful activity.  I was quite surprised to have a couple of orders placed for September which gave me further inspiration.  I also have courses I’ve paid for but not started (colour therapy being one of them) and other interests I want to follow.  There has to be a balance.

I need to make changes to keep my love of blogging alive.  I don’t want to feel like it’s a chore or resent the time I give.  One thing I can assure you of is that the content you see on Jera’s Jamboree will still be of the best quality and hopefully inspire you.  I hope you’ll hang around.  Changes ahead 🙂

Married with two sons in their early 20's, by day I'm an Inclusion Lead in a local school. I recharge my batteries by reading, being out in nature and creating with crochet. I've been blogging for six years, four of those years exclusively about the literary world and during that time awarded Romance Blogger of the Year at the inaugural Festival of Romance. I'm enjoying the freedom of lifestyle blogging and sharing my love of anything that makes life easier! As well as a lover of words, I'm a stationery addict and lifelong learner. I feel passionate about early help for special educational needs, disability and families who are struggling. I'm a member of my local Early Help Operational Board and it's an honour to be working alongside others to instigate change and growth.
