Dystopian YA | Cecelia Ahern | #PerfectlyFlawed

I’m delighted to be the first stop on the blog tour today for Cecelia Ahern’s YA dystopian series.

Flawed, the first novel in the series, shows us a society in which perfection is paramount and mistakes are punished.  Published last year it was a 5* read for me.  Before I share information about the sequel, Perfect, I’d like to share some of my thoughts from Flawed.

This was a thought provoking world for me.  The Guild was originally created to remove flawed people from leadership positions after the corruption from those previously with power causing problems.  Overseeing the inquisition of moral or ethical mistakes, the Guild itself is expanding and possibly going global.  As with most things that are newly created to meet a need (and in its early stages still), the policy has gathered momentum too quickly with no reflections on the impact or supervision on how it’s working.

Our main character Celestine is a reluctant heroine neither wanting to be in the spotlight or even to be noticed but of course becomes a catalyst.  Naive and trusting we see her start to question everything and move away from the logical person she is to listen to her intuition and look below the surface.

I like to end a reading session at the start of a new chapter but that was hard to do with Flawed.  I felt compelled to continue because I just had to know!

I had questions at the end of the story! What happens to Carrick?  Would Art’s role change completely and be unrecognisable?  Are Pia and Berry safe? Will Juniper stop feeling guilty?  Ending on such a fabulous cliffhanger I’ve been eager to find out what happens next … and now that time has finally come 🙂

When we embrace all our flaws, that’s when we can finally become PERFECT…

Celestine North lives in a society that demands perfection. After she was branded Flawed by a morality court, Celestine’s life has completely fractured – all her freedoms gone.

Since Judge Crevan has declared her the number one threat to the public, she has been a ghost, on the run with the complicated, powerfully attractive Carrick, the only person she can trust. But Celestine has a secret – one that could bring the entire Flawed system crumbling to the ground.

Judge Crevan is gaining the upper hand, and time is running out for Celestine. With tensions building, Celestine must make a choice: save only herself, or risk her life to save all the Flawed. And, most important of all, can she prove that to be human in itself is to be Flawed…?

Perfect comes out this Thursday – you can pre-order your copy here.

I have fears for Celestine’s family … it’s been so easy to take these characters to heart!  I know I’m in for a very emotional read.

Have you read Flawed?  Is this series on your radar?  Would love to know your thoughts.
