Frankie’s Story : Sunset in Central Park by Sarah Morgan

Sunset in Central Park is the second book in the From Manhattan with Love trilogy by Sarah Morgan.  This time the focus is on Frankie.  I have to say, wow, what a transformation!  Don’t worry if you haven’t read Sleepless in Manhattan (although it is one of my favourite reads and I would urge you to!) as all three novels are standalone reads.

True love can be hard to find. Even when it’s been right under your nose all along…

After witnessing the fallout of her parent’s divorce, love has never been a priority for garden designer Frankie Cole. The only man in her life is her friend Matt–but that’s strictly platonic. If only she found it easier to ignore the way he makes her heart race…

Matt Walker has loved Frankie for years but, has always played it cool. Until he uncovers new depths to the girl he’s known forever, and doesn’t want to wait a moment longer.

Matt knows Frankie has secrets and has buried them deep, but can he persuade her to kiss him under the Manhattan sunset?

Review

In Sleepless in Manhattan we knew a little about Frankie’s childhood on Puffin Island and how she felt about intimacy but not to the depth in Sunset in Central Park.

Before I say anything about Frankie’s transformation I’m going to say I loved being involved in this group of friends lives again.  Paige is Matt’s brother so we see her take a different role and Eva is still hoping to meet someone.  Urban Genie is going strong although it is wedding season so they are organising a lot of weddings (which of course Frankie hates) so that releases her to split her time on another project.

What we didn’t see in Sleepless in Manhattan was Frankie’s vulnerability.  I loved the pace of the reveals as well as the romance.  Frankie’s transformation is in a lot of ways unwanted.  I loved seeing her fully engaging in life on all levels and accepting ALL the emotions that comes with the opening of your heart.

Kissing Matt was a whole body experience.  She felt it right through her, little shivers of excitement chasing across her skin and sliding into her limbs.

Once again the romance is so beautiful it just captures your heart.  Sarah Morgan’s characters are three dimensional and have their imperfections.  Matt is vulnerable too and although comes across as confident, we get to see this vulnerability during his narration.  It’s hard not love all the male characters Sarah Morgan creates!

Lots of resolutions happen on Puffin Island.  I absolutely loved being back for Emily and Ryan’s wedding.  Again, it was like being back with old friends.  We see a different side to the Puffin Island community too.  I was a bit reluctant to come back to Manhattan 🙂

A sub plot involving Roxy is quite dramatic!  I’m wondering what part she will play (if any) in Miracle on Fifth Avenue. I’m looking forward to Eva’s story – there’s a sneak peak after the end.  Eva will have her work cut out with reclusive Lucas Blade …

Sunset in Central Park is another romance from Sarah Morgan that hasn’t disappointed and is one of my top reads this year.  Her characters and settings burrow into your heart.  It’s a feel-good read and has the power to uplift your mood leaving you feeling inspired and motivated.
